Project Description
Villa Abdin is located in West Somid 6 of October City. It is a stand-alone home that is designed to blend into its surroundings while taking into account the interaction with the climate, including summer and winter conditions. It faces north-west to the main street and south-east to the main garden. It is designed to take advantage of the wind that blows from the north, north-east, and north-west during the summer and allow it to penetrate the living rooms. At the same time, it has a wind catcher (Malqaf) that takes wind from this direction above the ground and channels it into the middle areas of the house, and during extremely hot periods, it circulates the air underground and recirculates it to keep it cool, before being sucked into the building via the solar chimney. The building envelope is designed to incorporate sun breakers from the north-west facade; the building is recessed two times, each of which is 2 m, preventing sun rays from entering the building during the hot summer months while allowing solar rays to penetrate through the entire space to warm the building during the winter.A light shaft in the center of this building allows natural light into every room. There are three levels and a basement in the building. There are two offices, a bathroom, and an open-plan living area on the ground floor. The light shaft illuminates the areas, which have complete natural ventilation. the first floor, which has a family living area with a terrace, three further rooms, and a master bedroom. Each room has its own bathroom. A tiny granny flat with a bedroom, kitchenette, and bathroom is located on the second story. Solar heaters are installed on the roof, and an English court provides lighting for the basement, which is also used as a gym with bathroom. whereas the average back garden is 12*12 meters with a kitchen.
