Project Description
The
MSA project is located in the 6th of October City, 30Km outside Cairo. It is
located on the Oasis road, surrounded by other regional facilities. Project
design started in April 1998. The
University started the first academic year in October 1996 in its temporary
premises located near Misaha
Square, Dokki,
Giza. The first phase of construction
was expected to finish in Sep. 2000. The university education program necessitates the construction of 6
faculties in order to cover the main educational fields. Besides, administration buildings, student
facilities and infrastructure. The project includes the following
buildings: Conference Center, Administration, Central Library, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Computer Science, Faculty of Pharmacology, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Mass Media and Communication Technology, Faculty of Business Administration, Student Union, Student Medical Center, Sports Facilities, Student Residence, and Staff Residence. The project was planned to
complement the surrounding environment, utilizing the thermal, luminous and
sonic environments, and comprises an integral environmental system, which fulfills the dynamic balance between the natural environment and the built one.
The climatological data have been analyzed, and the expected climatological
effects on the project were calculated. The project site extends along the Oasis road. The site is bordered to
the north by low rise housing at the same elevation. To the east is the city
nursery, with the Oasis road to the south and housing projects to the
west. The topography gently descends
form north to south.
