Project Description

The emabssy is divided into two main masses, one for the embassy and the other for the consulate. The embassy building faces north-south, while the consulate building is relocated and inclined to respect the site's boundaries, facing north-east and south-west. The corridors and in-between patio connect the embassy to the consulate. The embassy building components primarily consist of the adimn, secertary, embassador, and direstor room, salon, and waiting areas that overlook the gardens and the courtyard, while the embassador building overlooks the garden and the multi-purpose hall for ambassadorial and other important meetings. The entire building overlooks Dhaka's main river from the north. The key idea is that the building is introverted to the court yards inside, with small openings in the south, east, and west due to the harsh environment of Dhaka. The main court is also utilized to collect rainwater for use in buildings and landscaping. Synthesizing with the environment and interacting with the climate through the materials used in the building, such as using solid black aswan granite for the entire building and a light structure double skin made of stainless steel in the consulate building to withstand the hot climate and act as a shading element for the building. In addition, a distinctive symbol pyramid is employed in front of the embassy's main entrance, made of crystal glass that emphasizes the building and is a representation of ancient Egypt and is acting as an atrium. The site also has the ambassador's residence building, which includes bedrooms, guest rooms, a luxurious salon, and an atrium that provides natural lighting inside the structure.
